DealPop Expands Social Buying Website to Portland
WhitePages backed social buying site offers up to 70 percent off on the best places to eat, shop and have fun in Portland
Seattle, WA – March 30, 2011 – WhitePages (www.whitepages.com), the largest and most trusted online directory, today announced the Portland launch of its social buying service DealPop (www.dealpop.com). DealPop Portland will feature deals that offer fantastic savings of up to 70 percent off of the best places to eat, drink, and have fun in the Portland area. The Portland site will kick off with deals from Vivace ($5 for $10 worth of food and drinks) and Pinhole Café ($5 for $10 worth of food and drink) and Fressen Artisan Bakery ($7 for $14 worth of food at local farmers markets).
Similar to social buying sites like Groupon and Living Social, DealPop Portland makes it easy to share time sensitive deals in the surrounding Portland area with friends and family. However, with DealPop everyone gets a deal because there is not a minimum number of people who need to purchase before the deal goes through. In addition, unlike Groupon and Living Social, where deals typically last 24-72 hours, DealPop deals are available for an average of 3 to 7 days and sometimes even longer. On select offers, DealPop also allows for instant redemption, which means people can print and use the voucher immediately.
DealPop has also created a point system that allows members to earn points on future purchases when they share a deal with someone via Facebook, Twitter and/or email who then signs up and purchases. DealPop also offers a national social buying site called DealPop USA, which offers nationwide deals on top brands that can be purchased and enjoyed by anyone, anywhere in the US.
“We’re excited to launch in Portland and look forward to helping people discover new places, as well as serve up deals on their favorite hidden gems – the new bar downtown that everyone is talking about, that brewpub in the Hawthorne District with great food, or that popular boutique in the Pearl District,” said Travis Pearl, Product Manager for DealPop. “Social buying with DealPop is the perfect way for Portlanders to try these places without having to pay full price, a combination that they won’t want to pass up.”
As a WhitePages subsidiary, DealPop analyzes more than 100 million local and business searches conducted monthly by 20 million people per month at WhitePages.com and 411.com to determine the most popular places to eat, shop, and have fun. This insight, combined with first-hand knowledge by DealPop Portland’s local insiders, will allow DealPop to quickly identify relevant merchants and provide the hottest deals for consumers in Portland. The company will promote each deal on www.dealpop.com, through a dedicated email to DealPop subscribers, via Twitter and Facebook and on WhitePages’ website. Business owners interested in working with DealPop should contact the company’s sales team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
